Think a salad can't be seductive? Think again.

Seductive Strawberry Salad
Makes 4 servings.
Print recipe only here.
Salad:
4 cups wild arugula
3 cups baby spinach
2 medium blood oranges, peeled and sectioned (about 1 cup)
10-12 fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced (about 1 cup)
1 medium mango, diced (about 1 cup)
1 tablespoon thinly sliced fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons toasted nuts (such as pistachios, pecans, or walnuts)
Vinaigrette:
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon white balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon fresh Meyer lemon juice (or regular lemon)
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed blood orange juice
1/4 teaspoon grated lemon zest
Salt and pepper, to taste
To toast the nuts, place them in a small, dry skillet over medium heat. Shake the pan handle back and forth for 1-2 minutes, or until the nuts are golden brown and aromatic. Set aside.
In a large bowl, gently toss all salad ingredients (excluding nuts).
In a small bowl, whisk all vinaigrette ingredients until well combined. Pour over salad and toss gently until well coated. Divide the salad among four plates and sprinkle with nuts.

I hope Mike of Mike's Table likes fruit in his salad because I'm sending this to him for his Strawberry Seduction event.

Seductive indeed! Beautiful presentation. Balsamic vinegar is almost a requirement with strawberries these days, isn't it? (haven't ever seen a white one, though.) I made a strawberry salad a while back courtesy of Jamie Oliver, but like him I couldn't resist adding sweet, sweet meat to it, haha :)
Stawberries are definitely sexy! I had a strawberry mixed baby greens, blue cheese and pecans in my salad today!
it was great

Those photos are definitely seductive! And yes, the salad too! Oooh...I love wild arugula...only wish it was more available here...
good to catch up on everything I've missed Susan...it has been very busy here1 A lovely salad and our strawberries are beautiful in the market right now!

I love strawberries in salad and especially with these bitter greens. Susan, throw some toasted walnuts and blue cheese...manna!
Strawberries and steamed asparagus make a wonderful combination in salad, too.
How fun! I wish strawberries were in season here!
Sigh, yet another lovely post making me realise that it isn't spring here yet! I'll definitely save this one up for whenever spring makes it to the frozen north.
This looks and sounds delicious! Wish I had bought strawberries at the store...
I'm definitely seduced, my friend - are you making some for me later? I'll have lunch at noon. :)
I am seduced by this wonderful salad!
Cheers,
Rosa
Absolutely beautiful, Susan. And yes, strawberries make a salad into a whole new thing.
(In case you don't see my response over at RR, I'd think puff pastry would work perfectly well with the lamb filling.)
Beautiful looking salad with some great fresh flavors. Also, that is a very sexy strawberry photo! ;-)
Thanks for your entry--it looks great!
I'm definitely seduced!!
The first time I had a salad with Strawberries I was hooked!
Oh I can simply imagine the slightly earthy taste of the rucola against the sweet strawberries - yes sexy and seductive!
Susan--I can just hear you singing "I'm too sexy for my salad" as you made this seductive dish. With the strawberries and mango, was the lemon and orange juice in the dressing too much of a good thing or did it play nicely with the salad? I almost feel like a straight vinaigrette might work nicely here.
That's a very sexy salad! My husband will be pleased, I'm sure. ;)

You've won me over Susan! This absolutely appeals!!
Wonderful presentation Susan! Now I need to run up to Whole Foods.. very sexy!
That IS one sexy salad! I can't wait for real spring and summer!
Wow! Your photos are stunning. This makes me want to run out and get some strawberries!
I'm getting a little tired of you showing off your beautiful produce while we New Yorkers have to wait ;)
That said, your strawberry salad is looking good, sista :)
Fine, fine photos and recipe, Susan. As I recall, you did have an earlier post where some were "outraged" (their prerogative, of course) at the addition of berries in a salad. I think it was the watermelon post. Some people are so uppity about things that don't matter.
Strawberries are indeed seductive in a salad - the glorious red catches and draws the eye! And the sweet juiciness delivers all it promises!
I LOVE a good strawberry salad. I'm delighted to see that this one is made with white balsamic. Sometimes the regular balsamic vinaigrettes ruin the prettiness of the salad. I have one that is white wine vinegar-based that works well too. Interesting addition of mango and orange!
Seductive?? I'd call it "sexy" .. looks awesome!!!
I'm a huge white balsamic fan! This whole salad screams sexy!!!
That salad screams Springtime! It looks lovely and delicious. I love to add fruits to my salads too. I'm seduced! ;)

Well, your salad seduced me completely. I fell flat out in love with it!
Oooh, this is just plain sexy! You go girl.
Wait, I can't say that, since I'm not Oprah.
Lovely salad. I love argula and with strawberries this is a real seduction.
This is one very sexy salad Blogga!!! I love strawberries in salad and am really getting into arugula lately as well:D
well, i am easily seduced by rocket salad and strawberries alike, i mean, i even buy the red beauties at the supermarket when i know they're not in season and will taste like cardboard. can't wait to pick my own in a few months!
That strawberry is giving me a "come hither" look...
Awesome looking salad, Susan!

Sooo sexy! I wish I would start to see some beautiful strawberries pop up here in Seattle. I am jealous!
With all of that luscious fruit, this is the most seductive looking salad that I have ever seen. Yum!

i love fruity salads with vinaigrettes :) the strawberries definitely look seductive!
Seductive indeed... YOu are making me long for warmer climes. We hardly even see blood oranges here in the UK, but when we went to Italy last month they were on every corner. The strawberries look glorious too - I love the sound of this salad.
Hi Susan, I'm attempting to make your seductive strawberry salad for X'mas. Keeping my fingers crossed. Wondering how I can keep it fresh for at least 4 hrs before dinner time. Any advise or tips? I'm making it for 10 guests. Vinaigrette to store in fridge, salad stored separately? How long can I keep left over vinaigrette?
Hi,
I love salad and yours looks good. I think it's an excellent choice for lunch. Thanks for sharing such a gem. Will try it out soon.
Cheers,
