Product Review: Pig of the Month BBQ Delivered Straight 2 U!

Guys, this post is for you. You get home from work starving, and you open the fridge to find exactly two half-empty containers of ketchup and mustard and a six-pack of beer. You grab a beer, open it, take a swig, then start searching through the couch cushions for any remnants of last night's chips. Oh, you know you have.

Pig of the Month BBQ Ribs

Wouldn't some hot-from-the-oven authentic BBQ baby back ribs be better? Or a a mammoth pulled pork sandwich? Of course. Which is why you should know about Pig of the Month. They deliver real BBQ directly to your door.

Pig of the Month BBQ Ribs

Pig of the Month offers personalized BBQ packages. You choose the meat and the sauce you want, and they'll deliver it to you.

I was sent a package of fully cooked Key West Ribs, a bottle Key West BBQ sauce, and a container of fully cooked, frozen pulled pork.

Pig of the Month BBQ Ribs

Pig of the Month gives you simple cooking instructions for both the microwave and the oven. Microwaved ribs take 4 to 7 minutes, oven roasted takes 1 hour for thawed and 1.5 hours for unthawed ribs. The pulled pork cooks in 30 minutes in the oven.

But how do they taste? Really good.

If you like sweet BBQ sauce, they'll you'll enjoy the Key West ribs. The ketchup based sauce also includes brown sugar and a medley of sweet fruit juices. They were satisfyingly sticky and surprisingly tender.

Pig of the Month Fully Cooked Pulled Pork

The pulled pork is great for last-minute dinners and left-over lunches. You simply plop the frozen pulled pork in a dish and cook for 30 minutes, or until heated through (I cooked my for 40 minutes.) It was soft and moist with just  a few chewy flecks of roasted meat mixed in. It was mildly sweet and not at all spicy; so if you like spicy foods, I'd recommend dousing it with either your favorite hot sauce or a spicy sauce from Pig of the Month.

Pig of the Month Fully Cooked Pulled Pork

And now it's time for a saucy give-away!
Pig of the Month will send one lucky Food Blogga reader a 4-pack bbq sauce sampler. To win, simply tell me something tasty about BBQ -- why you like it, your favorite style, your secret sauce, etc.  Tweet about the give-away and mention @foodblogga, and I'll count that as an extra entry. I'll announce the winner on Monday, October 24th. Sunday, October 30th. Good luck!

I love BBQ, especially pulled pork sandwiches. I grew up in the south so it reminds me of "home". My pulled pork sandwiches have to have coleslaw too!

BBQ, in my eyes, may be one of the most perfect foods - you can have it sweet, spicy, any type of meat - so there's something for everyone to enjoy. And plus, there's nothing better than an actual finger licking good meal!!

Oh my, this sounds so good. I like everything about BBQ. I still remember the first time I tried real pulled pork after I moved South. Truly love at first bite!

The last time I made bbq for my friends- a from scratch batch of pulled chicken bbq, one friend spent the entire time sighing dramatically and saying the flavor was good but he just didn't like sweet bbq. I've been afraid to cook for him since.

But personally? I love all bbq! Tangy, spicy, sweet deliciousness!

What's not to like about BBQ? I love it when it's been slow cooked all day to the point where it melts in your mouth. Yum! Also, pulled BBQ chicken as a pizza topping is excellent.

One of my local, award-winning BBQ restaurants does a tri-tip marinated in red wine that is to die for! Another place does a cherry based sauce that is really good. I would love to try the Key West sauce from Pig of the Month, though. I love sweet sauce!

I love it because it's so messy, but delicious and always fills my craving for something a little spicy!

I can't get over the fantastic flavor a good smoker imparts into some pork shoulder. I live for the stuff!

BBQ is my favorite "big meat" meal. When I make BBQ sauce it isn't with a real recipe. I just keep adding things (catsup, mustard, vinegar, syrup from pickled fruit, spices, etc.) until I like the taste. Sometimes I start with a cheap store brand and doctor it up.

Favorite local BBQ is Phil's.

I LOVE pulled pork with Eastern Carolina BBQ sauce - vinegar and peppers, no tomato. Of course I love ribs with the more "traditional" tomato-ey, sweet and spicy sauce, too! Pretty much any BBQ is good BBQ.

My husband & I LOVE BBQ. The way the meat falls off the bones. The beautiful pink center of a perfect brisket. Ribs are his fav, brisket and pork butt mine. We hardly ever agree on sauce. I go for the more vinegary sauces he likes them sweeter. I bet there is a sauce in the 4 pak we would both like maybe even one we could agree on!!

I love to make Hawaiian BBq kahlua pig in the crockpot with sea salt, liquid smoke, apple cider and spinach..it really is yummy. Leftovers are great in a good BBQ sauce for pulled pork sandwhiches.

I lived in Texas for over 20 years and love Texas barbecue - can you say Sonny Bryan's.

I love all barbecue, particularly pulled pork sandwiches. I like a more vinegar tasting sauce. I love that it is messy food :)

My husband is a huge BBQ fan. I'm still learning the difference between steak sauce and barbecue sauce as I prefer plain ol' ketchup...maybe I'll be a convert?? ;-)

PIG OF THE MONTH Customer Service SUCKS! I placed my order on Thursday-- they charged me on Friday-- it was suppose to be delivered on Saturday, NOTHING! The online account stated my order was placed and shipped. I contacted them on Sunday- leaving a VM. I never received a call back from the company. I canceled my order online after it was never received on day 5 and left another VM, along with email stating I canceled my order that was not received, requesting a refund- no response. On day 11 I received an Fedex shipping notification stating my order was being delivered, the following day. I called the company, leaving another VM stating I no longer wanted the order and wanted a refund, as I had wanted it delivered for a special dinner 6 days prior. No one called me back. At 6pm that night I received an email stating the fedex shipment notification was a mistake and the order was not being delivered, nothing about my refund.
I emailed back asking them to please refund my credit card, explaining the horrible mess and how horrid their customer service was. I heard nothing back-- except a refund notification with no other written word from the company. Two days later--- still waiting for my refund, I will be turning them into my bank tomorrow for fraud.

I'm writing my complaint here and on any other message board regarding "Pig of the Month"-- as their online testimonials are only submitted by the company-- so of course they are all positive or no doubt fake.
