You can't go wrong with the classics around Christmas time. Chocolate Chip Cookies are the bomb.
I love Zimsterne (Swiss/German Cinnamon Cookies).
Cheers,
Rosa
Ok, techincally not a cookie, but kind of in the family - my grandfather's lemon bars. OH YUM!! I can't wait to hear everyone's opinion.... more cookies to try :)
Soft, warm molasses cookies are the best. Yum.
Melomakarona, for sure. They are Greek honey/walnut/spice cookies. Mmmm.
Technically not Christmas, but I love good Rugelach. Hope I win!
Mine would be sugar cookies filled with jam!!
I love a rich and soft iced sugar cookie for the holidays
A hearty biscotti is my fave cookie; studded with cranberries & pistachio nuts, drizzled with white chocolate...Christmas all the way! Have a great hoilday season Susan...warm wishes to your family!
Chocolate Chip homemade is my favorite!!!!

I think I side with a family favorite - Nanino Squares (which incidentally I think will be my Eat Christmas Cookies submission this year). But my mom's mint dessert brownies are a close second.
Peffernuse - I love them at Christmastime!
You are so generous. I love Martha Stewart's Swedish Ginger Cookies. They are so delicious.
I love sugar cookies...specifically a no chill recipe one of my sister's gave me that uses a bit of orange zest...so chewy and tasty!!! YUM!!!
: )
Someone's feeling generous :)
It's a tough choice, but you can't go wrong with citrus zest-kissed Linzer cookies filled with traditional red raspberry preserves.
My mom's shortbreads. Hands-down, the best cookies out there. Seriously. Happy holidays, and thanks for the great giveaway opportunity!
Hmmm, this is hard, since I like a lot of them. Maybe, the Swedish Almond Cookie.
Cheers,
Elra
my fav are mexican wedding cookies!!
MY FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS COOKIE IS THE GINGERBREAD FOLLOWED BY THE NOT SO CHRISTMASY CHOCOLATE CHIP :)
Rugelach, definitely.
Wow this is really tough... I LOVE to nibble at them all! But I might have to agree with some that have already posted... a good chocolate chip cookies can never be wrong :-) So I will go with that as my favorite... at least for today!
Difficult to choose but I would say Coconut and Almomd Macaroon Cookies.
My favourite Christmas Cookie? I think that it would have to be the tins of thin ginger biscuits that you can get from Ikea!! (I could quite happily eat the whole tin in one sitting, but somehow manage to restrain myself!!)
In my kitchen though, I have a bag of peffernussse from Belgium that I haven't tried yet - so those may win the deal this year!!
I would say traditional shortbread with royal icing. Or biscotti, same as passionateaboutcooking. I love to make those every year.
Gingerbread men, Chräbeli and Zimtsterne :)
It used to be chocolate chip, but now I can't get enough of gingerbread! ;)
The cookies I made have so many different names- I found that each nationality has one -almost the same-that they all make for the holidays! Aren't they wonderful? They came so light and flaky...
I forgot to tell you the name of my cookie- it is my Moms Bow Knots...a wonderful dough lightly fried until it is light and golden then dusted with oodles of confectioners sugar!
Taralles..Italian knot cookies with the icing and sprinkles. They have always been my favorite!
My favorite Christmas cookies are my mom's filled ravioli cookies.
My favorite cookie is any cookie I didn't have to make. I love it when my friends bring me cookies they made!
It's gotta be the rolled sugar cookie! But any cookie can be a contender. :)
Not a cookie per say, but my mother would make lamingtons every Christmas before she passed away. Now I still attempt a version ever year because I can't seem to go a Christmas without them
As much as I love my ginger snaps, they're not my traditional holiday cookie. That would be the Royal Dansk pretzel shaped butter cookie. My grandmother would have a tin every Christmas when my family would visit, and the pretzels were the best of the set. It's almost a tradition now...
This is real difficult, mine is not christmasy. It is pimms cookies. It is a cookie filled with raspberry jam and topped with chocolate ganache. mmmmmmmmm Delciious.
Every year, my mom makes Cinnamon Sledge (http://www.recipesource.com/baked-goods/desserts/cookies/15/rec1569.html). It's not Christmas unless she makes them.
Kyle
I love plain old sugar cookies with icing on top. The design is really the best part =)
White Chocolate Macadamia Nut is the best : )
those big, fat, bakery kind of sugar cookies with icing and little candy on them....thick, big, soft...mmmmm
mariannakeough at hotmail.com
I don't know what they are called, but they are sold in the stores. They are bright pink and green and have a minty taste to them. My mom use to buy them every year. They are in the shape of leaves! HEAVENLY!
That's easy. I cam up with a new one this year. Cranberry Turtle Bars!
Cranberry and white chocolate cookies. Ooohhh, I'm going to make these this week. That'll be two entries from me this year!
Nigella Lawson's Chocolate Gingerbread...from "How to Eat," I think, but maybe "How to Be a Domestic Goddess." I'm sure I fiddle with it each year, but it's basically her recipe...thick, dense, dark from molasses but with enough chocolate to satisfy the addiction.
Since I can't get anything but "Anonymous" to post on Susan's site, I thought I'd better ID myself, since how else will she notify me that I'm a winner (tee-hee) with my Nigella Chocolate Gingerbread? Jean here, at expat39520@hotmail.com
My favorite is the Contessa cookie made by the Bahlsen Co in Germany, but I have made it at home with moderate sucess---a soft, subtly spiced gingerbread/lebkucken, with a thin icing of vanilla and coated with chocolate on the bottoms, or Nick Malgieri's Leckerli.
Classic chocolate chips are for me!
OH! Nanaimo bars! easily!
oh boy i can't wait :D
My favorite of course is the chocolate snowballs!
Cardamom Snaps ... like ginger snaps only with cardamom. Yum.
Seriously just one? How about if my mom is baking then pizelles but if I am baking Scottish shortbread.
I love Pecan Diamonds and Stroopwaffles...it's a tie in my house as to which gets eaten first!
Big, soft sugar cookies with yummy icing!
pecan crescents followed by beth's cookies and ginger cutouts. all yummy.
Not a cookie, but cookie-like, my favorite holiday treat is pecan tassies - tiny bite size pecan tarts.
There's a ginger molasses cookie I make that just tastes perfect for the season.
Here in the Rhode Island/Ma area a giant tray of Wandie's rule the day. An Italian treat, thin fried dough twisted into a knot and dusted with powdered sugar.
It's not really a cookie, but my mom makes these little butterscotch covered piles of crunchy chinese noodles (we call them haystacks), that are my all time favorite!
can fudge count as a cookie if it's in a flat, round form? if so, mint fudge for me. :)
This is a tough one! For me, it is a toss up between ginger cookies and really good chocolate chip. If we can include bars then it is definitely mint chocolate squares made with creme de menthe! Yum!
I still have a soft spot for the Peanut butter scotcharoos (butterscotch rice crispy treats with peanut butter-chocolate topping) yum! These are a bar not a cookie, but one of my favorites
I'm not sure I have a favourite Christmas cookie, but I think I like my Achappam cookies the best.:)
Melt in your mouth, shortbread. Straight up, no sprinkles.
Would.Not.Be.Christmas.Otherwise.
I'm ALWAYS in the mood for snickerdoodles, and I'm not really a cookie person. Homemade toffee is a wondrous thing too--though not really a cookie is it?
My favorite Christmas cookies probably are my Grandma's Bourbon Balls. She's made them every year since I was born, and each year they taste a little different since she does them from memory. But nothing tastes like Christmas like her Bourbon Balls :)
Thick - slabs - of - shortbread cookies.
Linzer cookies - no doubt! -
I make these Fudgy Fruit Drops- with chocolate chips, nuts, raisins, and the (secret) grape jelly.
I've just made a cookie which has become an instant favorite - I'll be posting it this week. It's a Christmas biscotti - made with pistachios and dried cranberries. Ahhhhhhh......
My favourite Christmas cookie is still my moms sugar cookies. My daughter and I will be passing down the tradition and making them some time this week. I love their butter icing!!!!!
I received a couple of emails too. So I want to include them in my random number generator. One is Wendy.
Another is Gary.
Another is Karthika.
